GABRIEL Lee President of Basketball Operations

Gabriel (Gabe) has been involved in coaching children’s basketball in the City of Richmond for over 15 years. He has served in his current position of overseeing the operations of the Municipal’s non-profit basketball offerings since 2014.

He is certified with the Coaching Association of Canada as a “Fundamentals Coach,” and is currently the Head Coach of the Gr. 7 Girls Basketball Team at St. Joseph the Worker Elementary School.

His life-long mission is to continue the legacy of the late Kobe Bryant’s living legacy of creating environments and opportunities for girls within the sport to thrive.

NAthan SCHROEDER Vice-President of Basketball Operations

This is Nathan’s fifth year serving in the role of Coordinator with West Richmond Summer Slam.

He is an alumni of the program, playing from Grade three until grade nine. This playing experience laid the groundwork for Nathan’s current passion of seeing Summer Slam reach great heights in terms of program quality and positive community impact.

Nathan played basketball at Richmond’s McNair Secondary School, in addition to club teams like RYBL rep and AthElite basketball. He is currently studying Communications at Simon Fraser University.

Davian TSANG SKILLS CAMPS CO-HEAD COACH

Davian has been coaching girls basketball for the last 4 years. This is her third year coaching with the Summer Slam program. 

Growing up in Richmond she has spent many summers participating in Summer Slam and has also played at a club level with RYBL Rep and Triple Threat. 

She is alumnus of the Women's Basketball team at Langara College, and currently studying to be an athletic therapist at Camosun College.

As an alumni of the program, she wants to give back to the community that has shaped her into the person she is today.

Her goal is to cultivate an environment for youth to learn and most importantly enjoy basketball.

TAYLOR SAYSON SKILLS CAMP CO-HEAD COACH

Taylor has been a coach with Summer Slam since 2022, returning to the same program he grew up participating in as a young athlete.

He played basketball at Steveston-London, where he served as team captain and earned Richmond First Team All-Star honours. Taylor is now studying Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia, aspiring to help others, especially athletes, train and recover.

Taylor looks forward to coaching each season, aiming to create the same meaningful experience he had by helping youth grow and be positively impacted through basketball, as it was through programs like Summer Slam that he first discovered his passion for basketball himself.
