Summer Slam Leader II - Site Coordinator

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of onsite activities within the summer slam basketball program. The individual will report to the Program Coordinator and liaise with coaches, parents, staff and related service providers in order to deliver an inclusive and safe community recreation basketball program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up facility/equipment for safe, efficient operations
  • Attend regular scheduled meetings with Supervisors, Coaches, Refs and Site Coordinators
  • Liaise with parents, coaches, staff and volunteers
  • Coordinate game results for efficient tracking
  • Monitor games and ensure rules are being adhered to
  • Cover the roles of official, coach or scorekeeper if required
  • Special Event support as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Grade 11 plus 200+ hours of experience working with children or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Emergency Child Care First Aid or Standard First Aid and CPR Level B (or higher)
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal record check

Desired Qualifications

  • Basketball Coaching Certification – NCCP Level 1.
  • Previous experience working in a basketball-related environment.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication and public relations skills.
  • Coaching and leadership experience.

 

Hours

  • 20 hours/week for 10 weeks (June-August)
  • Evening work is required

Compensation and Benefits

  • $16.56/hour

Summer Slam Leader III- Officials

The successful candidates will be responsible of officiating games in the West Richmond Summer Slam program. The individual will liaise with the Coordinator, coaches, parents, volunteers, staff in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the league. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Officiate youth basketball according to the general rules of the sport, as well as specific rules designated by the program.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Communicates with children, staff and parents.
  • Attend an in-house 3 hour officiating clinic

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 9 plus 50+ hours of experience working or volunteering with children, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Emergency Child Care First Aid or Standard First Aid and CPR Level B (or higher)
  • Attend an in-house 3 hour officiating clinic.
  • Successful candidates will be required to pass a criminal record search

Desired Qualifications

  • Emergency Child Care First Air or Standard First Aid and CPR Level B (or higher).
  • Reasonable physical condition to be able to work extended periods of time on his/her feet.
  • Coaching and Leadership experience.

Hours of Work

  • 16 hours/week for 7 weeks (July/August).
  • Primarily late afternoon and Evening work is required.

Compensation and Benefits

     $14.19/hour.
