Summer Slam Leader II - Site Coordinator

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of onsite program activities. The individual will liaise with the Coordinator, coaches, parents, volunteers, staff and related service providers in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the league.

Job Location: West Richmond Community Centre

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up facility/equipment for safe, efficient operations
  • Attend regular scheduled meetings with Supervisors, Coaches, Refs and Site Coordinators
  • Liaise with parents, coaches, staff and volunteers
  • Coordinate game results for efficient tracking
  • Monitor games and ensure rules are being adhered to
  • Cover the roles of official or scorekeeper if required
  • Special Event support as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • Emergency Child Care First Aid or Standard First Aid and CPR Level B (or higher)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and public relations skills
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Flexible working hours (primarily evening work)
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal record check

Desired Qualifications

  • Basketball Coaching Certification – NCCP Level 1
  • Relevant post-secondary experience

Hours

  • 20 hours/week for 9 weeks (June-August)
  • Evening work is required

Compensation and Benefits

  • $16.45/hour

Summer Slam Leader III- Officials

The successful candidates will be responsible of officiating games in the West Richmond Summer Slam program. The individual will liaise with the Coordinator, coaches, parents, volunteers, staff in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the league. Please note that this is not a City of Richmond position -- West Richmond Community Association will employ the successful candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Officiate youth basketball according to the general rules of the sport, as well as specific rules designated by the program.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Communicates with children, staff and parents.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 15-years-old.
  • Knowledge of the sport of basketball, and its rules and regulations. 
  • Successful candidates will be required to pass a criminal record check, as well as attend an officiating clinic. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Emergency Child Care First Air or Standard First Aid and CPR Level B (or higher).
  • Reasonable physical condition to be able to work extended periods of time on his/her feet.
  • Leadership experience or experience working with children.

Hours of Work

  • 16 hours/week for 7 weeks (July/August).
  • Evening work is required.

Compensation and Benefits

     $12.19/hour.
